Description
A 3oz novelty candle scented after York peppermint patties — mint over chocolate. Cleaner than most dessert scents and a good match for a room you want to freshen rather than perfume.
Neutralise, do not mask
An ordinary scented candle layers fragrance over smoke smell and you end up with both. Odour-eliminating candles use enzymes and binding agents that react with the airborne particles. Whichever type you have, light it at the start of a session rather than after, so it is working while the smoke is in the air.
Getting more out of a candle
- First burn: let the melt pool reach the full width of the jar before putting it out, or the candle tunnels and you lose most of the wax.
- Trim the wick to about 5mm before every light — that is what stops soot.
- Four hours maximum per burn, and keep it out of draughts so it burns evenly.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended or within reach of children and pets.
The rest of the job
Most smoke smell in a room comes from the ashtray, not the session — empty it while the ash is cold. A personal air filter handles the exhale. See all candles and odour control.
