A dab rig is the glass; a banger is the quartz bucket you heat and drop concentrate into. Most rigs are sold without a banger, and most bangers are sold on their own, so check the listing before assuming one includes the other.
Mini rigs hold less water and give the most flavour, which is why concentrate users prefer them to full-size bongs. Recyclers and incyclers loop water back through the chamber continuously, which cools the vapour and stops splashback. Hollow and globe rigs are the simplest and easiest to clean.
Heat the banger until it just glows, then let it cool — 30 to 45 seconds for quartz. Too hot and you scorch the concentrate and lose every terpene in it; too cool and it pools without vaporising. Drop in a small amount, cap it, and rotate the carb cap to keep airflow moving. Swab the banger with a cotton bud while it is still warm; once the residue hardens it takes a soak to shift.
A banger stays clear if you swab after every dab. A cloudy one needs a soak in isopropyl, and once it has chazzed (permanently white) it is past saving. See also dab tools and concentrates.
