Description
RAW Butane in 300ml cans, sold as a twelve-count display. Refined butane is the single most important variable in whether a torch keeps working: unrefined gas leaves residue that clogs the jet, and a clogged jet is how most torches die.
Why refinement matters
- Impurities in cheap butane deposit inside the jet and the valve.
- A clogged jet gives a weak, yellow or sputtering flame — and it is usually not recoverable.
- Once a torch runs well on a particular butane, keep using that one. Mixing brands reintroduces the problem.
Refilling correctly
- Let the torch cool and turn the gas dial to minimum.
- Hold the torch upside down and the can vertical, press straight on, and fill in short bursts until gas spits back.
- Purge the tank first on a new torch: press the refill valve with a small screwdriver until the air hisses out.
- Wait two or three minutes before lighting.
